Scanpole produces pressure impregnated poles for many telecommunication- and power lines. Poles are delivered for both old and new lines.

“Fixing poles are individual pieces, but renewed lines alter from two to three kilometers all the way to tens of kilometers” says Jarmo Kemppainen, the production manager of Scanpole Oy.

“Customers give us line maps and coordinates to which a pole of a certain size is installed, and the transport company’s staff follow those instructions when distributing the poles”.

We have produced bigger transmission network lines for the mountain landscape in Norway, in which case the poles have been distributed into temporary storages. From there the customer transfers the poles to their installation spots with helicopters. “In these cases we weigh the bigger poles so they don’t go over the limits of the helicopters capacity and the poles make it to their intended destinations safely”.

We produce and deliver wood to Finland, Sweden, Norway and The United Kingdom for example. “We send a shipful of poles to the United Kingdom once a month. We also have a steady pace of deliveries to other European countries like France, Italy, Poland and Austria to name a few.

“Of the Arab countries, we regularly deliver poles to Oman. Libya’s order volumes have also begun to pick up” says Kemppainen. “We used to export poles to Libya, but the market was put on hold for a long time due to the Arab Spring and internal political situations.

Kemppainen sees a bright future for pole business.
