This summer, we have had two talented students doing summer jobs at our factory in Old Milltown, Ireland. Ellie, a college student, is a black belt karateka and plays both electric guitar and electric piano. Luke, who is working at our factory for the second summer, enjoys golf and guitar playing and will start his university studies in the autumn.
Both have been involved in pole fabrication including certification, measuring, quality control and scribing.

Willy Haugen, who works in sharpening blades at the Kirkenær factory, is one of Scanpole's longest-serving employees, having had a career spanning exactly 40 years.
Haugen joined the company as a summer employee at the age of 19 and started as a permanent employee on 1984, when CEO Bent Lynne hired a skilled young man. However, he was already familiar with the factory, as his father also worked there.
“Willy is a nice guy who can I can always trust. He is also well-liked colleague”, says plant manager Rolf Mella.
Haugen likes his job a lot.
"I've had a lot of fun here, otherwise I wouldn't have stayed that long," says Haugen, who still has a few years to retire. According to him, the factory has developed and automated a lot during these 40 years.
“Scanpole is a great place to work, because there is freedom and responsibility here” Mella and Haugen say together.

125 years of professional experience! We are very proud in UK to have employees with over 25 year’s service in our Newport factory. This level of service today is rare and we have 5 of them!
